What:
Father Louis Putz, CSC, taught at Notre Dame for 40 years; and he spoke
of the “learning, earning and returning” phases of life. During the
“returning” phase, we have the opportunity to share our time, talents,
skills, networks and resources to help others. The University of Notre
Dame Senior Alumni Program is sponsoring programs to support this
initiative across the country and throughout the world.
Nancy Kopp ’74 is the Senior Alumni Director for Region 2
(which includes New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, part of South Dakota and
Montana as well as Colorado). John Pidick ‘61 and Gene (Buck) Blish ’63
are the current Notre Dame Club of Denver (NDCD) senior alum
representatives. Joe McCauley ’53 had previously been the NDCD senior
alum representative. Thanks to Joe for all the NDCD work he has done
to date.
Examples of ND Senior Alumni "returning" programs are:
- Providing Tax Assistance Program (TAP) services
- Promoting the God, Country, Notre Dame scholarship fund for military dependents
- Representing Bat for the Cure (prostate cancer education at minor league baseball games)
- Consulting for Catholic school administrators
- Supporting various programs of Catholic Charities
- Volunteering monthly at Project C.U.R.E. in Englewood (to package needed medical supplies for international destinations)
Other ideas?? Your input is welcome here.
Are you now or will you soon be in the "returning" phase of life?
Are you interested in meeting with some other ND grads, spouses, parents and friends?
How about meeting periodically to talk about areas of interest, to go to ball games, to ski, to help other alums in need, etc?
If so, join us for lunch at Piccolo's, 3563 South Monaco Parkway (at
Hampden, east of King Soopers), in
order to provide your input regarding programs to be sponsored by NDCD.
The cost of the lunch (including tip) is $15, payable in advance (via credit card online, or by check payable to NDCD, c/o 448 South Pontiac Way, Denver,
CO 80224). Any surplus will be donated to the God, Country and ND
scholarship fund for military dependents. Spouses, parents of students
and friends of ND are welcome to attend and participate. The lunch and
discussion will be complete before 1:30pm. Plenty of free parking is
available.
Menu:
Included on Piccolo's quality Italian and Mexican menus are soups
(Minestrone = excellent), terrific salads and a variety of vegetarian
dishes. NOTE: Piccolo's will have an optional "quick menu" of seven (7) items with these orders going directly to the kitchen for quicker lunch delivery. The full Piccolo's menu will also be available.
If you are not able to attend the lunch, please indicate the
activity(ies) in which you are interested to any of the emails listed
below. As noted above, your input regarding additional programs is
welcome.
