Our very own Fighting Irish Fighting MS Team NDCD bike team will be participating in this annual bike event on June 26th-27th where they will bike 150 miles over two days from Westminster to Fort Collins and back again. We need riders (one-day and virtual) and your support! Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, and often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20-40, with more than twice as many women as men with the disease. There is no cure and MS affects more than 500,000 people in the U.S., including members of our Notre Dame family and friends.
Help us with the MS Movement by helping our team reach its fundraising goal of $15,000. It's easy. You can pledge online or join our team by visiting the links below and be sure to visit the team page!
We have currently have three Domers you can choose to support: team captain David Cordova, Bob Jones, and Jean Cordova. We will have some training rides before the event as well as some fundraising events too. If you have any questions, please contact our team captain: David Cordova, MBA '02 at david_cordova@yahoo.com. You can choose to write a check made out to the National MS Society and send in an envelope to David Cordova, 9844 Vine Court, Thornton, CO 80229. Overall, it's fun, rewarding, and a great way to show our Irish Spirit in support of this great cause. Go Irish! Beat MS!
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS. They simultaneously fund research for a cure while also helping people who currently live with MS lead more fulfilling lives. We believe in the work they do, and we invite you to see for yourself all the good they've done for the MS community. More than 400,000 Americans live with MS, and your support can and will make changes in their lives.
Please help by making a donation - large or small - to fight MS. Or, why not join us on the day of the event? Become a participant or even a virtual rider and side by side, as teammates, we can work together to raise the funds to make a difference. Whatever you can give will help!
On behalf of the team, I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on our progress.
Join our team as a cyclist or volunteer! Make a donation online! Send in a check! Talk to your employer about becoming a sponsor of the MS Bike Tour! There are so many ways to make a difference in the fight against MS, and it all begins right here. The number of people living with multiple sclerosis increases every hour of every day. This astonishing rate is not going to diminish, nor will it stop, until we've found a cure. Research has made some incredible advances recently, but the world can still only offer disease management drugs and therapies to the 400,000 people living with MS in America.
We've formed a team for the MS Bike Tour because we know that riding 150 miles is nowhere near as difficult as confronting a lifetime with multiple sclerosis. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society gives us all reason to hope, though. In addition to supporting novel research projects around the globe, they also provide much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including the diagnosed, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.
